Solution to the Green Screen of Death.

February 11, 2015

As some of you may know, I bought a new computer last week, featuring Windows 8.1.  For the most part, I have been very satisfied with its performance, and ease of access.  I did have one problem that refused to go away, and my wife was experiencing the same problem.  When we went to videos, and pressed play, we would hear the video, but the screen was completely green.

Over the week, I tried different things to try to resolve the issue, and while I had temporary success, the problem would come back with a vengeance.  After looking up the problem on Google, and finding out that many others are having the same problem, so once I found the solution, I vowed to tell those others what I did in hopes that they would have the same success.

This morning, I found someone who gave an answer, and after trying it had very limited success until I added one last step, and as if by magic, everything works.  Here is what I did to fix it, and I hope you have the same success.

Drag the mouse to the lower left hand corner of the screen to call the Windows icon.  Right click on that.

Click on “Control Panel”.

Click on “Network & Internet”

Click on “Internet Options”

Click on “Advanced”

Under the accelerated graphics, check mark “Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering”

Scroll down to the security section, and check mark “Enable 64-bit processes for enhanced protected mode”

Click “Apply”

Click “OK”

Here’s the part the person left off that completes the process.  Restart the computer.

After all this, I checked every video site and they all work.

I hope this helped, and please share this so that others with the same problem can find peace of mind; or at least stop their wife’s nagging about fixing her computer. (Yes, this happened to me.)

My 5 Year Goals

January 10, 2015

autumn rocker 2

As we begin another year, it is time for new goals to strive for, but this year I’m doing something a little different. I have decided to write (Yes I said write) down my 5 year goals that relates directly to my career choice. During my 2014 research, I discovered that one part of the success process that may have slowed my progress towards my goals, to a crawl, was I never committed my goals to writing.
In an attempt to resolve this issue, I spent part of January 7 writing down my career goals. According to the experts, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, and many others, when you make your goals, think big, and be specific.
With all this in mind, here are my five year goals.
By January 1, 2020 I will be making 833,334 dollars, or more, per month. I will do this through writing, photography, music, and videos.
Writing – I will write no less than 600 words each day, and will have articles in photography & nature magazines within one year of this statement.
Photography – I will continue to sharpen my skills with nature photography, and will be a regular contributor in nature magazines within two years of this statement. By January 2020 I will have photographs in National Geographic.
Music – I will be able to perform in front of an audience with my harmonica, and be able to play at any level with confidence.
Videos – I will be posting no less than two videos per week, on both channels, and will have more than 100,000 views daily. I will also have more than 100,000 subscribers on each channel.
These are my 5 year goals officially starting January 7, 2015. If you haven’t seen any of my YouTube channels they are and .
If you are able to, I would greatly appreciate it if you would subscribe to these channels.
Thank you,

New YouTube Channel Needs Sponsors

November 11, 2014

what comes natural

This blog is a little off from my usual blogs. I have started a new YouTube photography channel. The name of the channel is Naturally Photographic, and I am designing it to teach basic photography to beginners, from the perspective of an outdoor photographer.
I know there are a lot of channels that teach photography, and each one uses a different method. Photography will always be photography, but being an art form, the way people approach it is very personal. After 38 years of taking photographs, and growing up around nature, I believe I can offer beginners a unique perspective without a static setting.
If you would like to see this new channel, I will now supply the link.
If today’s blog was only announcing my new channel, I would have just put a link, and said “check out my new YouTube channel!” But it does have a real purpose. Having a channel on Youtube is free, and so is posting videos, however, to post quality videos is going to take new equipment, for example, a good computer, with real editing software.
I’m not looking for individuals to send me money; I would never do that. I am hoping that I can find companies who would be willing to sponsor my videos on the new channel. What I’m asking for will cover equipment, promotion, and living expenses so I can devote a proper amount of time to making the best videos possible.
In return for this, I am willing to offer mentions in videos, their descriptions, as well as the company name on the channel itself. If you are a company who would like to sponsor my videos, please let me know by e-mail to and put “Business” in the subject line.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Feature Video Friday: Mystery Milkshake!

July 13, 2012

This video came across my YouTube home page yesterday.  About a month ago, Shay Carl Butler, and his brother Casey were brought to a secret shoot Shay’s producer came up with without telling either one what they were in for.

This video is the result of that shoot; be warned, however, it is kind of disgusting, but very funny.

New video: At Little Cost

April 9, 2012

I decided to eliminate two excuses of why people don’t do exercise; money and time.  Any one can exercise with no money, and you can exercise in the time it takes to watch one tv show.

New video: The Not so secret formula.

This is the video I did yesterday regarding what I learned about fat loss recently.
