Photo Friday: Drama in the Sky

March 16, 2018

I took this shot because of the dramatic nature of the clouds.

Once again it’s cruise ship season in Portland, and catching one coming in during sunrise is special.

Here is the current level of the eclipse in Portland.  I just thought it would be interesting.

First Look Photo: Cloudscape

November 30, 2016

I love clouds.  They are beautiful, dramatic, and no two cloud formations are ever the same.  The reason I call today’s photo a cloudscape, and not a landscape, is the majority of the shot is about the clouds, and the interplay of light and shadow from the early approach of the sun on the scene.

Photo Friday: Heart of the Sun

September 23, 2016

There are  many artists who share their vision of beauty in canvas stone and music.  These forms of art are creative, and can be extremely beautiful, but no piece of art can compare to the beauty nature brings us.

Our job as nature photographers is not to create the art.  It is our job to show others the beauty that most people miss, by training our minds to focus on nature, and to be willing to go where most people would never go.  To make it even simpler, nature photographers have to look at a forest, and bring out the raccoon sitting in a tree.

Today’s photo is not a raccoon.  I saw a sunflower the other day, and while it was very striking, I was more drawn in by pattern in the middle of it, so that is what I brought to this picture.

Photo Friday: Cityscape Sunset

August 26, 2016

I know sunset pictures are regarded as cliché, but there’s a reason for that.  You can have two people stand two miles apart, taking a shot at the same moment, and get two very different sunset shots.  No two sunsets are exactly the same, especially when you add in the element of clouds.

I decided to embrace the cliché with today’s photo.  It was taken off my balcony, with the Portland skyline, and the sun right behind it.

Another Picture Moment

March 21, 2012

Honestly, I’m finding running two blog sites, and two YouTube channels, along with my job, very difficult.  My poems will continue until I reach 366.  The only difference is I won’t kill myself to try every day.  I will continue posting a photograph without fail, unless my internet dies.

So here is another photograph for the day.

This one was taken last night.  I hope you enjoy.
