First Look Photo: After the Rain

Sometimes the best pictures happen right after a rain storm, so don’t put away the camera when it rains.

First Look Photo: Shooting Bugles

May 31, 2017

This week I found a flower I’ve never seen.  It was tiny, purple, and clustered.  I did the usual research and found nothing in the books.  I finally found it on the internet.  It’s a flower called a blue bugle, and it grows wild in England and Ireland, but seems to enjoy the atmosphere of Maine.

This flower is the first one I’ve seen blooming this spring.  This is another great reminder that Spring has finally arrived in Maine.

First Look Photo: They do Sleep

September 21, 2016

Out of all the things that most people never see, including baby pigeons and foxes that climb trees, I’ve seen most of them, but the one thing I never expected to see I saw, and captured this week.

Today is a shot of a bumble bee sleeping, which gave me the opportunity to get several shots without the bee moving.  How could I pass up the opportunity.

Photo Friday: Garden Variety

July 22, 2016

This week I thought I would go a little more domestic, and shoot a couple of garden flowers.  Wild flowers are my favorite flowers to photograph, but garden flowers make easy beautiful subjects.  People love their gardens, and are proud to show off their landscaping skills, so getting permission to photograph them is no problem.

I had to look up the flower I’m using for today’s photograph, but I found is most lovely.  For those who want to know what kind it is, it is a purple coneflower, aka Echinacea Purpurea.
