First Look Photo: A Study in Contrast

March 21, 2018

I was photographing this section of Portland, where graffiti reigns.  After a couple of shots, I noticed a clean cut business man walking through the area.  This added an element of contrast to the cluttered art work.

First Look Photo: On the Fence

September 6, 2017

People always talk about the negative influence of man made objects on nature, but I keep coming across instances of nature using man made objects, like this spider web using a fence.

Photo Friday: Coffee Man

January 6, 2017

Last Wednesday I spent some time downtown, looking for a photo to take for school.  While down there I spent some time doing street photography.  I was trying to work on my story telling with pictures, and I think the last photo I took, while waiting for the bus, does it the best.

I used a window in the bus stop as a framing device, of an older homeless man who spends his day sitting in the same entryway, in a wheelchair, with a sleeping bag covering his legs.  While sitting there, people will bring him coffee, to help, which is why he has coffee cups lined up next to him.  I especially how the coffee cups helped tell the story of this man.

Day 84: It Starts With One

March 21, 2012

It Starts With One

A blanket of leaves

Starts with one bud,

A choir of angels

Starts with one voice,

A world of change

Starts with one man

And his dream.

Day 60: New Heights

February 22, 2012

New Heights

I watched the birds flying

And I wanted to fly with them,

I tried to approach them

To ask how they did it

But they flew away.

Then, as I sat on a rock

Trying to figure out what I did wrong

I felt myself being lifted.

I looked up

And the birds were carrying me

To heights I never imagined possible.
