Photo Friday: All About the Lights

September 29, 2017

I recently changed jobs, and that means the pictures I can take to and from work has been extended to the city.  I wanted to get a nice shot of the city building tower, at night without flash, and this is my result.  I increased the ISO to 3200 and adjusted the exposure to compensate.

I love the way the lights play on the architecture, and bring out the texture of the building.

On my walk home from my new job I cross the Casco Bay Bridge.  This is the view from the Bridge.

The good thing about cityscapes is the different angles, and lighting makes each shot unique.

First Look Photo: In with a Bang.

July 5, 2017

I love photographing firework shows, and July 4th is the ideal day.  In the past I have been scheduled to work, or weather conditions weren’t accommodating, but this year was perfect, so I headed out.

Photo Friday: It’s About the Food

June 16, 2017

I love festivals, especially those featuring local restaurants.  The Noonan Family Ranch from Maine has prepared some delectable lamb shish kebabs for the Old Port Festival.

First Look Photo: Winding Down, and Up

April 19, 2017

As I start the last photo assignment for the professional course at New York Institute of Photography, I am happy to note that this is not the end of my education, but the beginning.

My career in the photo industry is about to begin, maybe not today, but soon, and I know the need for continued education will be a key to my growth as a photographer, and eventual success of all I dream my career can be.

With that, here is today’s photo from my last assignment, there are going to be two more, but I haven’t taken them yet.

First Look Photo: The Odd Duck

March 22, 2017

I found this white duck among other ducks yesterday.  I thought it was just another type of duck, but the closer I looked at the markings, especially on the head, and after looking at my book, I realized it was a white female mallard duck.  It’s a rare sighting to be sure, but albinos happen in most species, and it’s still fun to see.

First Look Photo: Got Milk?

February 8, 2017

I took today’s photo for a school assignment.  The idea was to Make the bottle, and glass stand out from the background.  The phrase that came to mind, when I saw the assignment, was “A touch of class in a glass.”
