Photo Friday: Night Landscape

October 13, 2017

Landscape photography is photographing a space in which the space itself becomes the subject.  The space can be as vast as a desert or ocean, or miniature like the head of a pin.  It just has to be a space.

Today’s picture was taken off the top of the Casco Bay Bridge.  I took it at night as a fog rolled in.

Old Port Fog

Baby Turtle!!!

June 21, 2012

this is a picture I took at Hinkley Park the other day.  This was my third pass over the bridge, (I’ll supply the picture of that as well.)  and looking into the water, I saw the cutest baby turtle at just under 3 inches around.  The baby is an Eastern Painted Turtle, which are common in this area.  I’ve seen a lot of the turtles, but this is the first time I’ve ever seen a baby.

Ain’t he cute?

Now here’s the bridge.

Day 17: Should Would Could

January 10, 2012

Should Would Could

I should have pursued baseball

I would have been good

Hitting the ball out of the park

I could have been the hometown hero

I should have been in that movie,

I would have had the perfect role for me

That showed millions how good an actor I am,

I could have been a Hollywood Legend.

I should have worked on that train,

I would have become the owner some day,

And used it in movies and train shows,

I could have taught thousands the importance of trains in history.

I don’t play baseball

I’m not a Hollywood actor

I don’t own my own train

Those aren’t the paths I chose

I went down the only

Path that mattered,

I went down the path

That led me to you.

Day 16: Crossing the Bridge

January 9, 2012

Crossing the bridge

I should be in bed

But I just had to write this,

Put two words together

One day I should not miss.

Wracking my brain

To find the right message,

Then find a fitting photo

That has the right visage.

It started out slowly

I thought my time was a waste,

But every word I conjured

Ended in really bad taste.

Then I remembered

It’s how my mind works,

Thinking fast in the end

Is just one of the perks.

Now I’m crossing the bridge

From blank page to another verse,

Now it’s past my bed time

There’s no time to hit reverse.

If you want things done

You’ll have some bridges to cross,

But try not to suffer

Too much sleep loss.
